Too many files within a page
Learn what is checked in this report and how to fix any issues found
This report shows you pages that contain many media and files.
Why you should avoid having pages with too many files:
Too many embedded media and files can slow down your pages. This is because each file that is included requires an additional request to be sent to the web server, and then the file has to be downloaded. The more files are included, the longer the whole page will take to load.
How to solve these problems:
For each problematic page, click on the URL in the list to see all the embedded media and files that were found on the page.
Check if you really need each file on the page, or if you can remove some.
You can then tweak the rest of the files in order to reduce their load time:
- Combine all CSS and JavaScript files into one CSS and one JavaScript file if possible.
- Use compression such as gzip for file transfers from your server.
- Save images directly at the size they need to be and in the correct format (e.g. JPEG is better for photos, PNG for screenshots and simple graphics).
- Remove unnecessary style information from CSS files.
